A Great Improvement in a Handheld Radio. I have been waiting for these comprehensive features, all in one transceiver, for years. The inclusion of the 222 MHz band with decent power is a big plus. This unit works as good or better than my Wouxun KG-UVD1P at a much lower price. The FM commercial broadcast frequencies received go all the way down to the studio to mobile unit communication frequencies band. This is important in Indianapolis with all of our events year round. It keeps our Ham Radio volunteers more informed about what is…

Worth the difference over a standard UV5 I own a few of the Baofeng UV5 series radios, and one UVB series. They are adequate radios and have their quirks, most of them well known. The BTECH UV-5X3 smooths out some of those quirks. It is a little easier to program in the field, but most of all, I love the new feature they added where you can use the top and bottom displays linked together with one showing frequency and the other showing the name of the channel. This is a big help as I don’t always remember every call sign and…

Great new radio, combined the best from UV-5R & UV-82X (222Mhz, 1W) Long time Boafeng fan (UV-5R and UV-82X). This is the best of both models I own: all 3 frequency ranges, and a full 1W audio output, but the smaller size of the UV-5R.Downsides: At this time there is no way to program the PowerOn Message, Stun, Kill, or Revive options – not from the radio nor software. There is also no way to program any menu settings from software, only channel memory settings (which is the majority of the work, but it is still nice to see all the knobs on the PC…
